Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ) is a dysfunction in the jaw where individuals may experience jaw pain, headache, difficulty chewing, and clicking or locking of the jaw joint. TMJ discomfort can result from grinding of the teeth during stress or clenching your teeth. Using a muscle manipulation technique, a skilled massage therapist can work up to 15 minutes to release tension in muscles and fascia surrounding the joint. This may help lessen individual suffering pain and headaches. The results may last a few days to months, it varies on individual and severity of TMJ dysfunction. We add muscle relaxing massage to your head, neck and shoulders to further relax the muscles in the area to provide relief.
