What are the benefits of Dermaplaning?

  • Safely removes the skin’s top layers, fine facial hair, and skin imperfections
  • Reduces acne scarring, uneven pigmentation and fine line wrinkles
  • Can increase absorption of skin-care products for optimum results

What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a non-traumatic method of skin rejuvenation, a “manual exfoliation” of the skin and is sometimes referred to as skin balding or leveling.  Dermaplaning removes the outmost layers of dead skin cells leaving the skin immediately smooth and vibrant.

A trained Schenden’s Spa aesthetician will stroke a sterile surgical blade along tautly held skin, almost like shaving removing vellus hairs along with dead skin cells resulting in a smooth appearance and feel.

Will the hairs on my face grow back thicker?
No.  The hair on our face is vellus hair and vellus hair grows back the same when cut or removed.  Terminal hair (grows under the arms, pubic area, eyebrows, mustache and bear for men, and legs) is coarser hair but it too grows back the same.  People “think” it is thicker because the tip of the hair is blunt from shaving.  Schenden’s Spas trained aestheticians can explain Laser Hair Removal services and waxing options.

How often should Dermaplaning be performed?
The normal skin cycle is approximately 30 days and Dermaplaning can be performed every four weeks or so. Dermaplaning can also be used effectively with facial peels.
