Facials – follow the seasons

I still remember getting my first facial. I viewed it as a luxury service that I received as a gift.  When I went in for the treatment, the aesthetician asked me about my skincare routine and what I did outside of washing and daily lotions.  My answer was “Nothing. This is my first facial”. (I was in my thirties). The next question she asked me has stayed with me for years. She asked “How often do you get your hair treated?”   This one I had an answer for as I proudly said “every 6 weeks!”. Her next question changed my skincare routine from that day forward. She asked “why would you take care of your hair every six weeks and not take care of the skin on your face and neck?” Wow I thought, why wouldn’t I? I had beautiful hair but my skin was starting to age and I was neglecting it.  Facials are so important to the skin to ensure proper cleansing, exfoliation, extraction (if needed) and hydration. Her recommendation for me was that if you cannot come once a month you should always at least follow the seasons and come at each season change. Our climate changes and environmental pollution causes our skin to react and causes changes in our skin that need attention.  Some seasons I was dry, some oily. Finding a quality aesthetician to help your skin stay healthy and glow for every season is key.
