Spider Vein Treatment (Telangiectasias) – Show those beautiful legs!

We are pleased to announce that our office is now offering TREATMENT OF SPIDER VEINS. Spider veins are typically small and normally occur in clusters or groups so they can be very noticeable. Most spider veins can be successfully treated with good cosmetic results and the procedure is virtually painless. If you are concerned about Spider Veins on your legs, speak with the front desk about scheduling a complimentary consultation with Dr Clarissa Kroese to learn more about the treatment options.

WHAT ARE SPIDER VEINS AND WHY DO I HAVE THEM? Spider veins, also known as telangiectasias, are small, thin veins that lie close to the surface of the skin. Although these very fine veins are connected with the larger venous system, they are not essential to normal function. A number of factors contribute to the development of spider veins including heredity, pregnancy/ hormonal shifts and occupations or activities that require prolonged standing or sitting.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT FOR SPIDER VEINS (TELANGIECTASIAS)? Sclerotherapy is the gold standard for treatment of spider veins. Using a very fine (tiny) needle, a solution is injected into the spider veins. This causes irritation, closure and eventually spider veins will fade and disappear.

WHERE WILL I RECEIVE THE TREATMENT? Right here at the office.

Please feel free to call 248.524.0620 if you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment for spider vein treatment.

Best Baby Shower Gift…Maternity Massage. Skip the Registry.

Give the gift of a prenatal massage at the next baby shower you attend. Forget the bottle warmer, the mother-to-be will be elated to pamper herself with a massage or pedicure and will appreciate the personal gift. Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, improve circulation and mobility, and just make the mom-to-be feel great. So, how do you lie face down on a massage table with a growing belly and swollen breasts? For those reasons, some prenatal massage therapists use a special table or pad with hollowed-out areas and special pillows to accommodate the belly. If only a traditional massage table is available, you can lie on your side with pillows, wedges, or a full-length body pillow for support.

Carrying a baby puts a lot of stress on the back, neck, abdominal muscles, and shoulders. Add to that the extra weight of carrying a baby and you have the recipe for an aching lower back. A trained prenatal massage therapist knows where the sore spots are likely to be and may be able to provide relief to the ailments pregnant women often experience.

So, next time you receive a baby shower invitation skip the baby store and buy a gift certificate to the spa, because God knows she won’t have much time to relax by herself as soon as the baby is born.

Don’t let the word “Peel” Frighten you away…

What is a “peel”? The word “peel” may seem a bit intimidating or scary to those people who have yet to experience the treatment and witness the amazing benefits. Don’t let the name scare you away… once you try a facial peel you may be hooked for life. Sun exposure, acne or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or even scarred. If you desire smoother and younger looking skin, consider a chemical peel, which smooths the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers.

A chemical peel, is one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your skin. Although chemical peels are used most commonly on the face, they can also be used to improve the skin on your neck and hands. Clients seek chemical peels to improve acne scars, aging spots, wrinkles, irregular pigmentation, rough patches of skin, scarring or even sun damage. Following a facial peel, most people leave with beautiful glowing skin, however occasionally there may be a slight redness that will quickly dissipate.

Now that you know what a facial peel can do for your skin, it’s important to understand what they cannot do. They do not treat deep facial lines, in that case you may want to consider facial injectables that boost collagen production or CoolTouch CT3 Plus treatments that boost collagen production. Peels do not assist with broken capillaries, if you experience an issue with that you would consider Telangitron. For deep scarring or burns you could consider scar revision, CO2 Deep Fractional Laser treatments or dermabrasion – all of which you would be handled by Dr Schenden and not in the Spa.

Chemical peels do wonders for the skin, so don’t let the word “peel” frighten you away; instead, consider scheduling an appointment for a skin evaluation to learn about all of the chemical peels we offer at the spa (Salicylic, Jessner, Glycolic, Mybody, Lactic, Microdermabrasion, Probiotic, Dermaplaning).

Microdermabrasion – don’t try it at home!

Microdermabrasion is one of the easiest and most effective anti-aging treatments you can get and has been around since the ‘80’s. It has multiple benefits: softens fine lines and wrinkles, helps to smooth coarsely textured skin, decreases the appearance of scarring and pore size and reduces superficial hyper-pigmentation, also known as age spots. Additionally microdermabrasion makes it easier for high quality skin care products to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and help build collagen, which is responsible for skins youthful appearance.

True microdermabrasion should be done by a professional not at home for several reasons. First, the home kits are basically a scrub for the face that is often too abrasive and can irritate the skin. Secondly, when receiving microdermabrasion at the spa, instead of using a home kit, the Aesthetician will determine and control the depth of exfoliation by the strength of the vacuum and crystal flow for maximum safety. Thirdly, the Aesthetician will be able to determine the number of passes to make over your skin for optimal results. Often only two passes are made, but sometimes a third pass may be necessary if your skin is thick enough or if there is an area that needs special attention, like a scar or brown spot.

Microdermabrasion has many benefits for both men and women, which is why it has been such a popular and trusted treatment option for more than three decades. Many men seek microdermabrasion because it can dramatically help improve problems with ingrown hairs. For more information on microdermabrasion contact 248-524-3622 to schedule a consultation with one of the professionally trained Aestheticians.
